MK ANGER AT LEVEL OF BRITISH ARMS EXPORTS
Mebyon Kernow has condemned the announcement that British arms sales in 2007 amounted to a third of all export orders for military equipment. The exports were worth $19 billion dollars and included the order to sell 72 Euro-fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia.
Traditionally it has been the United States that has occupied the top spot in the global arms market followed by the UK, Russia and France. Looking back over the last five years, the US had world arms exports totalling $63 billion with the UK very close behind on $53 billion.

Cllr Glenn Renshaw, who represents the people of Saltash Essa Ward on Caradon District Council, has today (17th June) announced that he has resigned from the Liberal Democrats and also from the Liberal Democrat Group on Caradon District Council.
Cllr Renshaw has also announced that he has chosen to join Mebyon Kernow – the Party for Cornwall and will sit alongside MK Councillor Andrew Long in the council chamber.

The leader of Mebyon Kernow, Cllr Dick Cole, has declared that there is a real fight on for the very ‘heart and soul’ of St Austell and the China Clay Area.
The area could be facing great change in the coming years following the recent job losses in the clay industry, the upcoming and unwanted reforms to local government, a possible further increase in house-building and the need to provide create good-quality jobs for local people.

Leading Mebyon Kernow members have condemned the announcement that tax offices in Penzance, Truro and Launceston are earmarked for closure with the loss of over 100 jobs.
The Public and Commercial Services Union has already reacted angrily to the announcement by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) that they are proposing to close 200 offices across the UK affecting up to 25,000 staff serving some of the remotest communities in the country.

Mebyon Kernow – the Party for Cornwall has condemned the recent racist attack on the former Methodist Chapel at Quenchwell, near Carnon Downs, where an Asian community centre is planned.
