Hyns Arvorel Kernow / Cornwall Coast Path

At MK’s National Conference, party members agreed to launch a campaign to reclaim Cornwall’s Coast Path so that it can be identified as a national trail for Cornwall. The following briefing was recently published in Cornish Nation magazine. A Coast Path around the whole of Cornwall first came into being in 1973. Five years later, the South West Coast Path extending to 630 miles was officially designated as a “national trail.” In addition to incorporating the paths around Cornwall, it included…

A view on the “deal” from Cllr Dick Cole

Comment from Cllr Dick Cole – Leader of Mebyon Kernow

The UK Government published its “level 2 devolution deal” for Cornwall on Wednesday 22nd November. This follows on from the decision of Cornwall Council’s ten-strong ruling Cabinet, in April, to not proceed with a weak “level 3” deal that was linked to the imposition of a mayor. This latest deal is even more insubstantial. By the time that this column has been published, the deal will have been considered by the unitary authority’s Customers and Support Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee…

Mebyon Kernow briefing on “level 2” deal

Mebyon Kernow has produced the following briefing on the so-called “level 2 devolution deal” for Cornwall. We are desperately disappointed at the content of the “devolution deal” published on 22nd November 2023. The deal is simply a range of accommodations between central government and Cornwall’s unitary authority. The deal does reference Cornwall’s distinct heritage, culture and language, as well…
