Cornwall Council backs Dowr Glan campaign

Councillors at Cornwall’s unitary authority overwhelming passed a motion declaring a vote of no confidence in South West Water and the transfer of SWW into some form of public ownership. The motion was proposed by Mebyon Kernow’s Cllr Loveday Jenkin and it was seconded by Dean Evans of the Green Party. Signatories to the motion included other councillors from the Conservative, Green, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Independent and MK groups. Reform UK update: “Use Cornish – still go to jail.”

On Monday, we reported that MPs from Reform UK had tabled an amendment to the Representation of the People Bill in the House of Commons. This proposed that election materials should only be in English or Welsh, and that the use of other languages would be a criminal offence punishable by a fine and / or six months in jail.
