Reform: “Use Cornish – Go to jail!”

Mebyon Kernow says it is “unbelievable” that MPs from Reform UK have tabled an amendment to the Representation of the People Bill in the House of Commons, which would ban the use of the Cornish language on election materials. The proposed new clause 107 would dictate that the only languages that can be used on “any bill, placard, poster or printed document” would be English or Welsh. Everyone in Mebyon Kernow is delighted to learn that former MK councillor Donte Ragan has secured British citizenship. Born in the United States of America, Donte came to the United Kingdom at the age of two, when he was adopted by a British couple. At the age of 16, Donte became estranged from his adoptive parents but it wasn’t until 2018 that he discovered the appropriate paperwork for his citizenship was never completed.
