Donte Ragan secures British citizenship

Everyone in Mebyon Kernow is delighted to learn that former MK councillor Donte Ragan has secured British citizenship.

Born in the United States of America, Donte came to the United Kingdom at the age of two, when he was adopted by a British couple. At the age of 16, Donte became estranged from his adoptive parents but it wasn’t until 2018 that he discovered the appropriate paperwork for his citizenship was never completed.

Donte felt he had to stand down as a councillor on Redruth Town Council because of the very stressful battle with the Home Office to stay in Cornwall, which left him unable to work because of his immigration status.

Many in MK have helped Donte in these difficult times as did Perran Moon, the MP for Camborne and Redruth, and it is great news that he finally has British citizenship and he and his family can now get on with their lives.
