Mebyon Kernow is pleased to announce that a key speaker at our upcoming National Conference on Saturday 24th October will be Plaid Cymru’s Lindsay Whittle.

Lindsay is well-known as the victor of the 2025 by-election to represent the people of Caerphilly in Senedd Cymru. It was a contest that political pundits had predicted would be won by Reform UK. Earlier this year, he was re-elected to the Parliament for the Bleanau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni region following the introduction of a new list electoral system.

Lindsay previously served as a councillor for nearly 50 years. He was in his early twenties, when he was first elected to Rhymney Valley District Council in 1976. He remained on the Council until it was abolished in 1996 and served one term on Mid Glamorgan County Council between 1977 and 1981. He was elected to Caerphilly Borough Council in 1996, leading the authority between 1999 and 2004, and also 2008 and 2011. He stood down from the Council following his election to the Senedd.

As the victor of the Caerphilly by-election and a public representative in the Senedd with a Plaid Cymru Government, we are excited to hear what he has to say about these positive developments in Wales. We also hope to take some inspiration from him about what might also be possible in Cornwall.”

MK’s National Conference will be taking place at the Council Offices in Truro on Saturday 24th October. Doors will open at 9.30, with the actual Conference sessions starting at 10.30. Lindsay Whittle will be speaking the afternoon session, and the event will close about 5.00.
