A broken promise on Shared Prosperity Fund

Cornwall’s share of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) was announced yesterday. The Conservatives have previously pledged that funding through the UKSPF would at least match the size of EU funds that Cornwall would have received.

The anticipated figure was £100 million a year – but the Government announcement has confirmed a three-year settlement of £132 million – less than half of what was promised.

The message from the people of Cornwall to Boris Johnson must be clear – give us our money. Keep your promise!

For the record, the promise from the Government in the Autumn financial statement was that “the total funding through the UKSPF will at a minimum match the size of EU funds in each nation and Cornwall, each year.”
