All welcome at MK Conference

It is only a handful of days until MK’s Annual Conference, which will take on Saturday 23rd November. The venue will be the Council Offices in Truro and the event will take place between 10.00 and 4.00.

In the afternoon session, commencing at 2.00, MK leader Cllr Dick Cole will deliver a keynote address about the ongoing devolution debate and what the Labour Government could mean for Cornish aspirations. This will be followed by a debate, which should be interesting following the statement from Jim McMahon, the Minister of State for Local Government and English Devolution, that his preferred footprint for a “devolution deal” would be “Devon and Cornwall.”

Also on the agenda, there are discussions about the proposed top-down changes to the planning system and the 2025 elections, as well as a number of motions covering topics such as environmental policy, changes to inheritance tax and farms, international affairs and the selection of a new Honorary President.
