Cllr Dick Cole has issued the following statement on behalf of Mebyon Kernow – the Party for Cornwall:

“We would like to congratulate Cornwall’s six new MPs on their election to the Westminster Parliament. It is our hope that you will all be able to work with each other, plus elected councillors and others, to stand up for Cornwall and deliver a better deal for our communities with fair funding for all our public services.

“We also understand that the new Labour Government is committed to a ‘Take Back Control Act’ that will set a range of devolution proposals.

“Please unite and take this opportunity to build on the national minority status of the Cornish, and to demand meaningful devolution for Cornwall and greater democratic parity with our fellow Celtic nations of Scotland and Wales.

“We will work with you and support you in this important work.”
