Councillor Andrew Long has succeeded in getting the free parking for one hour reintroduced to the New Road South car park in Callington.

When Cornwall Council introduced new higher tariffs in its car parks last year, data showed that parking in the town decreased noticeably after a £1 charge for the first hour was introduced in the key parking area in the town.

Newspaper reports have stated that there was “hell up” locally, but the decision has now been reversed and the town has !got its free hour’s parking back … thanks to people kicking up a fuss and a particularly dogged councillor.”
